RE: [RC] Bucking under saddle - LaBrake, Denise A

Thanks Kathy.... I will check this info out. We have
a lot to learn. Newbies here at it all! Only have done what
the breeder/trainer recommended so far.

You think they are related...huh? I have had it in
the back of my mind as well. I used to trail ride with a lady
that overfed her horses. They sweated a lot!

She does not overheat at all. No more then normal.
Thin and clear when she does get hot while working.
Never foamy.

We already did the equipment check, okay there.

Thanks a bunch!

Denise,

First you wrote about feeding your 10 yo mare 14% protien
in her grain and 12 - 14% protien straight alfalfa.  Then you
write about how she bucks under saddle.

The two are probably related.  Your breeder doesn't ride this
mare, you do.

I suggest you read Dr. Susan Garlinghouse, DVM's webpage
about feeding endurance horses.  Read everything here:

http://www.shady-acres.com/susan/index.shtml

Get her feeding right and then start thinking about the rest of
it.  You very well could have a saddle issue.  There is often
more than one thing going on when stuff like bucking happens.

Much luck and keep asking questions,
