[RC] Changing minds about breeds - Ed & Wendy Hauser

While there are many who ride one breed no matter what happens, not all
endurance folk are of that persuasion.

I started with a speed quarter horse and a paint. My next horse was an
(unregistered) Arabian, followed by a NSH, an Anglo Arab, and another NSH.
If I wanted to challenge Don Funk for the national mileage champ. I would
look for a Registered Spanish Mustang.

If people would start beating me on Clydesdales, BLM horses, or any other
breed, I probably would be looking for one of them.

My point is that while there are some who would ride Arabians (Wendy is one
of them) no matter what, there are many endurance riders who just look for
horses that can win. This has naturally led to a preponderance of Arabian
blood in our sport. It is not a conspiracy, it is a fact. It is the same
type of fact prevents Peterbuilts from winning NASCAR races.
