Anyway finally met with an orthopedist foot specialist yesterday and she shot my foot with steroids. There is permanent damage to the muscle that connects the toes (the doc said you don't use them anyway...can you believe she said that?)

Mel,

Just my .02 cents, but if my Dr. said that, I'd try another one.  I've had several foot and ankle surgeries for various injuries and although I will probably always have pain in both feet and ankles, I have been re-built and recovered from several injuries that many thought would be career ending.  I have a great Dr.  The thought of having the nerves in your foot cut, just makes my skin crawl.  Too much opportunity for other injuries to go un-noticed if you can't feel 'em.  Please, please, ask around and find another ortho. that has done great (not just good) work for others and get a second opinion.  You're gonna' have to walk on those feet for a good many years and you don't want to take any chances.

Good luck,

abigail
