Re: [RC] Horse movies - patty bass

i was waiting for someone to mention Lord of the Rings because i was so
absolutely riveted to the horse that Gandalf (the wizard) was riding the
entire film bridleless. i noticed a time or two that the hand position
looked like he was holding reins but none could be seen and that horse
galloped up steps and just did everything. and i noticed the feet and
shoeing of the horses in the army. very realistid of the times. horrible to
todays standards but realistic. there were a few closeup shots. anyone else
notice? i always look for thecantle of the saddles under the robes of
bareback riders. it just goes to show what a horse can be taught.

Subject: [RC] Horse movies

I am so glad I am not the only person watching the
horses intently on screen. When I went to see The
Return of The King, the latest Lord of the Rings movie
I found myself trying to see stirrups on the feet of
riders that were riding "bareback". I also like
watching when they show a large group of horses
running and you can always pick out the ones with
their ears pinned and trying to bite the horse next to
them. I was really amazed though at what they trained
those horses to do. I remember reading that instead
of using proven movie horses they just bought their
own and trained them. I wonder if they sold those
horses? Where else could you purchase a horse that
was used to wearing armor and carrying people with
swords? Not that I have a use for one but they had to
be pretty spook proof! Amy
