[RC] Big Bellied Colts - Txponygirls

I have an arab yearling colt that I have only had for a four months. He came to me with a pot belly, and I have not been able to get it off of him yet. From what I have read, it may have something to do with him being on poor quality forage before he came here, but I'm not sure. He is on 40 acres of coastal now, he is VERY active, and is also on a milled grain mix developed here in Texas by A&M, which has hay/oats/corn/alphalfa, added calcium/selenium and a bunch of other stuff. All my horses are on this mix and have been for years. All very healthy and maybe a little heavy, but no pot bellies. He has been wormed and is currently on daily strongid c2x.  He is a fine colt (soon to be a gelding) with nice breeding, but I am concerned about the belly. As much as he flies around the pasture, I can't believe he still has it. I'm very interested in hearing what ride campers have to say about pot bellies.

Thanks for posting this topic!
