[RC] Post Colic Surgery Questions - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

My Appaloosa horse Warpaint had a colic surgery for enteroliths in June of
1994. There were no complications in surgery and by September of that year he
was back on the trail. It took about 3 months to rehab from the colic surgery
and he did Day 1 of Death Valley in Dec of that year. The problem he had that
was somewhat related to the surgery that caused a lengthier layup was a quarter
crack -- his shoeing was out of balance and he had a sort of weakened growth
ring on both hooves from the time of the surgery.

Warpaint did 1200 miles before his surgery in 1994 and did 2900 miles after it.
He retired from endurance at the end of the 2003 ride season after 13 years of
competition but is still being ridden on the trail. If you come to the East
Bay 50 this weekend you may see him as he's going to point ride the afternoon
loop. (If he doesn't go toes up in the pasture tonight)
