[RC] Gelding - Ridecamp Guest

Ditto on what Heidi & Lif & others have said. I had a nice half arab colt. He
had 1 testicle down at 3 months, was mounting his mother but couldn't reach
her. I am sure if he could he would have bred her. I wanted to geld him then,
& when the other testicle dropped then get that one but the vet said I needed
to wait until the second one dropped. When it did at 6 months he was gelded
the next week. He was a holy terror. He was a mighty stud in a little body,
that was the only thing that helped us was he was still small. He was to grow
up & be my next distance horse but not with a studdy attitude. I am sure it
was the raging hormones but it was difficult to teach him manners when all he
wanted to do was bite & stike. He had a rough life for about 3 months till he
was gelded. You go through a lot to get that mature stallion, maybe more than
you bargained for. If your not going to be set up correctly & use him for
breeding he will make a better gelding. You & the horse will be happier.
