Re: [RC] Safely heating small spaces - Magnumsmom

Is there a safe method for heating such a small space?

Sure... dogs work well.  Where do you think the term "3 dog night"
came from?  Eskimos bringing dogs into the igloo to warm the
place up.   :)  :)  :)

Try polarfleece wrapped under and around your zero-degree down
sleeping bag.   Remember sleeping bag ratings are indicative of
a person SURVIVING a night out... not being comfortable.
Therefore, I have a zero degree bag and at times I've thought I
should have gotten the -20 or -40 degree bag.  Another thing
that really helps is to bring an extra winter horse blanket along.
In a bag, under a blanket, with a dog thrown in is pretty snuggy.

Put your riding clothes in the bottom of your bag so they are
warm in the morning.  Bring a pair of fleece breeches to pull
on over your riding tights for early morning.  A polarfleece
vest and / or a down jacket work great.  Polarfleece gloves
until you are ready to mount up and ride.  Don't forget a hat.
You lose a lot of heat from your head.  Some people just sleep
in their riding clothes... I mean, it's not like you need to keep
them clean.

Cold mornings make for great hot coffee, hot chocolate, and
hot oatmeal.

Of course all of this gets less and less romantic as the years
whiz by.  Maryben uses atleast one big dog.  Of course she's
not that old yet either...

my latest pound doggie loves snuggling up on cold nights.  Not
bad for a cattle dog.  The big 60 pounder likes to sleep on my
feet.  It's amazing the cot hasn't collapsed yet.  Of course when
I need to rollover, we all go flying...
