[RC] Unloading during trips - Kristi Schaaf

Jim -
Your post could have been written by me, to the
letter. We do exactly what you do, and have the same
beliefs that you do. We haven't found many others who
think the same way, though. They say "Your horse will
eat grass sprayed with weed killer and die!", "Your
horse will get loose and run down the interstate with
the semi trucks", "Your horse won't get back in the
trailer and you'll have to live at the truck stop",
etc etc. Sure, all of those things could happen, but
in the scheme of things I'll take the risk because of
the benefits I see in unloading. I loved your comment
about if trailer loading/unloading is stressful for
the horse, then you need more practice at it. Like
yours, our horses love to get out and stretch, and pee
on real ground. Even a really hyper horse that my
hubby used to own would be a perfect gentleman at
truck stops, because he was just so glad to get out
for a bit.
