Re: [RC] Fw: Alive in the panhandle - Truman Prevatt

Hey, FL also gets fires too. The FL east coast damn near burned off in '98. You get soggy in the rainy season and dry and a bone and burn in the dry season. The only thing we don't get is eqrthquakes - but after this year nothing would surprise me. For the life of me I can't see why those damn Yankees keep wanting to move down here. Maybe the news this year will send a few packin ;-).

We're happy that Mary made it. We're happy Howard made it. I'm happy we only lost power for a week. We do have some riders from the Panhandle we haven't heard form. Hopefully they are okay and hopefully our friends up in Auburn, AL made it.

Subject: Alive in the panhandle

Well we survived our first hurricane. it was about a catagory 2 where we
live in Holt FL ; the winds were about 100 miles an hour for about 5 hours
or more. Holt is less then 100 miles from where it landed on the gulf. The
very day we finished moving into our new home we boarded up the windows

and

waited. It was very scary night. I woke up to fifity or more trees down on
our property. It looks like a bomb went off. Some just missed the house by

a

breath. Today we have no power and don't expect it back on for about three
weeks. The barn lost it's roof and the house needs a new roof. And our

home

in Niceville lost shingles but otherwise is fine - it has power!!. The lot
we own in Niceville lost the car port; it blew to the far end of the
property and is upside down.

BUT we are fine ( well I am pretty tuckered out ) and the horses did great
in a BIG pasture with fly masks on. They are standing in about a foot of
water but we will work on our fence this weekend so we can move them to
dryer land. Now we have work to do to clean up - lots of it. I sure hope

I

find time to ride or I may lose my sanity. Thanks for your concern for us,
we pulled thru.

Becoming a true blue Flordian..now I have Ivan stories!!!
