I have done a 100 and my body STILL shut down at 75 miles.   I only finished because my crew was 6'9" and there was no way he would let me not get back on my horse. 

 

For the record... I am very interested in 75 and 100s.  My area is saturated with multidays and I have to drive a minimum of 8 hours for a 100.  In addition they are the grand daddies of 100s.  Tevis, Big Horn, VC 100.  I would like something more moderate to start horses on.   It is easier for me to get a long weekend off work to for a 100 then it is a week for a multiday.

I've never done a 50 that I felt like I could do another 25 at the end of...and I've never done a 100 where my body quit at the 50 mile mark...or 75... Maybe you can just tell yourself, "I'm entering a 100 but I can always stop" and you'll feel better. I lie in bed the night before a 100 and think, "Why worry, the vet will probably pull me at 25" With that mindset all
