Re: [RC] Bob Marshall vs Sports Saddle - Karen Sullivan

Let me see if this is clear.

The Sport saddle is actually made by Sport Saddle Inc in Kentucky...and were
developed
by Bob Marshall. The saddle is also referred to as a Bob Marshall Sport
Saddle. They
make endurance, schooling and training and Western style saddles.

Bob Marshall also sold the patent to Circle Y to make certain models. They
do NOT make the
endurance model! They DO make the trainng and schooling model which they
call their
endurance model. The Circle Y models I have seen have the stirrups in a
more forward position.
They all have a plate that say Circle Y. The construction, though is
basically the same, soft body,
hard pommel and cantle, rigging and stirrups suspended from rigging inside
the saddle.... some of
the circle Y sport saddles you see in tack stores are horrendously
expensive.

I have several of the "original" Bob Marshall sport saddles, and one Circle
Y. I use the Circle Y
one (barrel model) for ponying a second horse as I can dally around the
horn. It is very comfortable,
but more of a walking-jogging ride saddle as the stirrups are too far
forward.

So.....the thing ask when someone says it is a Bob Marshall......is to ask
if it is the original company
or a Circle Y....

Hope this clears it up
Karen Sullivan

Does anyone know what the difference is between these
two saddles? Pros and Cons? The Sportsaddle looks
very much like a Bob Marshall so I was wondering what
the difference was.
Thanks much,
Val+Sania (outgrowing her saddle!)
