Thx Lif!  Beat me to it. :)

Bloodlines DO make a difference.  BUT, it's not about picking
one name from a pedigree that you recognize and then attributing
all traits to that horse.  Several of the "Bask-bred" examples
people are supplying are great-grandoffpring -- there are 7 other
horses in that same generation, let alone the individuals between
that generation and the horse standing in front of you.

Even direct offspring of a horse have another parent.  Unless we
start cloning them.
