[RC] tendon injuries - Alice Yovich

There is a huge difference between a bow and a tear. I have a friend who is going to have to put her horse with a tendon injury down. Long story, no debate of the condition, but the bottom line is that he severed 2 tendons before she bought him, was lied to about his history and now he's torn them apart and the vet says he'll never even be pasture sound. His tendons grew back together as one tendon and now there is a hole between them. Poor horse, poor owner.

Speaking of injuries to horses: what are the odds of recovering money on a horse that was documented more injured that the owner let on? In my friend's case the lady told her (and had a letter of soundess from the vet) stating that he had cut himself as a baby. It turned out (upon examination of the medical records) that he had 2 tendons severed just one year ago (he's four, so he was not a baby a year ago) Of course, she's trying to get her money back as she's owned this horse just 2 mo. Wondering if she has a prayer in small claims court.

thinking that a bow is a strain where as a tear the
fibers of the tendon are torn, but I don't remember
clearly. Seems like a bow wouldn't need as much
support as a tear.
