[RC] Was saddles... Now Boots and Tendons - Stephanie E Caldwell

Boots sold for *performance* support are used for
24/7 rehab in humid
weather??

Nope, actually just spring time here. Not all that
humid or hot. The Professionals choice was what my vet
instructed me to buy. So I trotted out and bought a
pair... They're somewhere in teh bottom of my tack
trunk...

And around here SMBs are recommended for tendon tears
by our vets. They feel like it's safer for the hrose
to wear SMBs than to be wrapped by someone who doesn't
know how. My horse was split pretty evenly in boots
and wrapping. Where I boarded unwrapped her in the AM
and booted her, while there was more activity around
her stall she would get hyper. Then I would rewrap her
in standing bandages and pillow wraps at night for her
to rest in, since the vet didn't feel like they
offered support as much.

I'm sorry, but that seems like an error in
judgement. I used one of
those sports medicine boots on an injury overnight
and got huge
swelling on the entire length of the tendon sheath.
That was a clue,
and I never used them again for anything, sold them.

What do the vets out west recommend for major tendon
injuries?

Steph
