[RC] where to start? - Ed Kilpatrick

alan,  there several  breeds with proven track records in endurance, and capable of top ten finishes in 25, 50, and 100 mile endurance rides.
if you are a novice rider,  just concentrate on finding a horse that you feel very comfortable and safe with.  it sounds like you may initially do more trail riding and might kind of dabble in the limited distance and endurance.   so, look for a horse that is safe, sensible and sound,  pick a size and  a look that you like. choose one that fits you well, depending on your size.
most any horse, properly  conditioned, can do limited distance rides,  and many, many others properly conditioned can do 50 mile endurance rides.         ed
