[RC] Pro's & Con's of wild horses - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I've adopted and trained many wild horses, including AERC Hall of Fame horse
Mustang Lady.

I just started another BLM 2 yr old under saddle this past week. They're not
for beginners, however, I was a beginner when I adopted Mustang Lady. The
secret to training wild horses is PATIENCE. Do not be in a rush. I recommend
the TTEAM method, which has worked particularly well for me.

The wild horses of the west are as varied as the horses that were turned out
years ago by their owners. You can find anything from draft-looking to
appaloosa-looking, to thoroughbred, barb, etc., depending on the herd area.

You're taking a chance adopting a wild horse, but it's a chance that I've found
extremely rewarding.

And the pro's of adopting them, that I've found: no bad habits, EXTREMELY
sure-footed, great feet and bone, good "trail sense", good temperament. Con's:
A tendency to be "stubborn", which I interpret as a self-preservation instinct.
