Angie, just about all the states in the SE require heath certificates. I got stopped on I75 in GA by an ag cop wanting to see my health certificate. They all have the reg and can choose to enforce it at any time.

The easy and inexpensive thing to do is get a 6-month Equine Event Permit which is good in all SE states I believe, through reciprocal agreements of the various ag depts. When your vet pulls a Coggins, he can send in the negative Coggins and a health certificate to the state and they mail you a 6-month EEP which supercedes the requirement for a 30-day health certificate. My vet only charges $15 for the paperwork, which is well worth it to me (especially since I live in AL but travel 40 miles to FL to ride pretty often). I have it done every spring and fall with shots, so I'm never without one.
