My 14 h. Paso Fino averages about the same as your Foxtrotter.  He can crank
himself up to 21mph at the canter, but we don't do all that much of that.
Under ideal conditions, we mostly go along at the 6.8 mph pace with some
canter and some walking thrown in.

Gaited horse/mule riders.  I'm trying to get a feel for speed of gaits.
Using a GPS my gaited mule averages 5.3 mph in gait and will max at 5.8
mph.  My Foxtrotter will average 6.8 mph and max at 8.5 in gait. Can you
give me an idea what kind of speeds your gaited horses do?  Thanks.  Bob
