Re: [RC] [RC] shoes impeding circulation-not! - Truman Prevatt

The wet is the killer down here. It's not near as bad where I am now as it was in Sarasota since I drain a lot better. When we went to Utah and CO in '96 for a couple months and get back - I call the farrier out. The feet got so dog gone hard out west from the dry ( and we poured the hoof cream on them ) he had to get out his  new pair of nippers to nip the walls. The ones he normally use we too dull.

That being said my farrier will reccomend front shoes on some horses in the summer. The wet just plays havoc on some horse's feet and shoes seem to help. The horse we have with the best feet has shoes all year. He gets ridden all year and his feet are the best of any other horse in the pasture. They show little effects of the wet. I am sure that is because of the exercise.
