Re: [RC] Big South Fork - Eric Rueter

Peggy,

After 9 years of excellent management and dedication, Karen Isaacs has turned the management over to the Knoxville Arabian Horse Club.  We have two great SE riders on our management staff (Nelia Rueter my wife, and Kara Disbrow).  We also have the Southeast's own Endurance Queen Susan Kasemeyer co-managing one day, just to keep us honest.  I think we will do just fine.  Otis Schmitt, Ken Marcela, and Kevin Slone will be our vets.
As for pads, some people do and others don't.  We do recommend shoes however, especially for the fifty milers.  Just too much sand stone and sandy paths, you would be riding "nubs" at the end of fifty miles.
Yes we also have some hills, mostly long climbs and downhills, not the constant short up and down of Biltmore, and not quite as sever as Leatherwood.  We use different trails on Friday and Saturday and try to avoid duplication of any of the trail (some duplication is just cannot be helped).  There first vet check each day is away, with the remaining vet checks (for the fifties) in camp.
We hope you can make it!
