Re: [RC] blind Riata Ranch Cowboy Girls horse - Karen Sullivan

Since this was sent to ridecamp I will also respond to it...am really
curious,
if, since your daugher is in Pony Club....if the kids wore helmets when they
were vaulting and doing tricks on actual horses....since Pony Club is so
adamant about it.

My daughter's Pony Club meeting was at Riata Ranch
recently where the kids practiced vaulting on a barrel
for an hour or so, then moved on to the horses. The
horse used for the bigger kids was Cisco (who was the
model for a Breyer model horse available with a trick
riding saddle and trick riding Riata Ranch Cowboy
Girl).

The horse for the smaller kids was a completely blind
horse. It was only important because the kids had to
be extra careful running into and out of the center of
the longing area, since he couldn't see them he might
run into them. He was about 24 and still doing a
great job of training kids to vault on and off of
horses, though he doesn't travel with the troop
anymore.

It has to be a trust issue--I think humans probably
have a harder time trusting another than animals do.
Check out the Riata Ranch girls at

(There are lots of sites with info about the 2 Riata
Ranch Breyer models, Cisco and Arapaho.)
