[RC] re: electronic devices - Cindy Collins

However, some ride managers prohibit use of a GPS on their rides..........
Must just be me, but I've thought this was a bizarre thread. Most of the
people I know carry cell phones and/or GPSs on rides. I consider the cell
phone a safety device and have used it to call ride management's cell
phone to report an injured or lost rider out on the trail or to let them
know about trail vandalism. Why on earth would anyone want to ban GPS
use? I use it as a pacing tool...and someone else may use a heart
monitor. I don't happen to use one of those. Is ride management afraid
someone will know their ride is short or long? Is there something I'm
completely missing? I don't own a $30,000 living quarters horse trailer,
maybe we should ban those, too, since I'm certainly not getting the rest
and care that would provide and that makes the "playing field" totally
un-level! Seriously, people need to get a life. Cindy
