I agree about the 15 hand thing.  I've always maintained you'll never see an arab in the want ads under 15 hands, or a Thorobred under 16 hands.  When I told a hunter/jumper trainer my horse was 14.2, she exclaimed she could NEVER ride a horse that small (even though she was 5'4" and I'm 5'6").  When you realize the difference between 14.3 and 15 hands is only one  inch, it doesn't seem like that big a deal.  BTW my first distance horse was a true 16 hands and had the advantage crossing deep water.  My 14.2 guy, however, can take me under low-hanging trees a lot easier!
