I'm starting to believe this is something every rider, every horse owner 
should know how to do.  It's not that hard, and, if you loose a shoe, you 
just pull the one on the other side.  If you've run your horse barefoot, on 
occasion,  you may even get to finish the ride this way if it happens to you 
during an endurance run.

You don't need to have done this 25 years either.  I've been doing it for 
only one and I could show any of you how to do this in less than an hour 
(I'm still slow and methodical about it all).  Pulling shoes and removing 
nails can be learned by any rider, or owner, of a horse.

Learning how to trim and, maybe, even shoe, can come later if you want to do 
it.  The experience changes everything and will save you an incredible 
amount of money.  Performing the task of removing a nail or a shoe can save 
you a lot of heartache.

Usually that is all it takes.

BTW, you don't really have to SEE where you are nailing, if you do it 
enough, you can FEEL a good or a bad nail.
