[RC] Pasture seeding - post fire - Lynne Tomovick

We recently seeded our pasture in the Black Hills of South Dakota after a forest fire blackened our 20 acres.
Kept the horses off it for 1.5-2 yrs.(patiently) to let grass get established, re-seed itself, (drylotted with hay, rented neighbors pasture) and we are reeping the rewards now.
Some grass grows better when grazed ... keeps it from flattening out on ground.
Now, we must prevent overgrazing and weed control.
Our pasture is divided into 5 sections with a dry lot area ... which I doubt will be used.

Areas with Intermediate Wheat Grass = NO Candian Thistle. and horses like it.

Contact extension ag agent ... they can help.
