RE: [RC] [RC] New, improved Boa Boots - terry banister

I have been testiing the original Boas with the New-style Gaitors for the past couple of months, and can definitely vouch for the new-style gaiters with the Foot Plate.

The original gaiters sometimes spun up out of the boot, but the new ones cannot do this. The result is that the new gaiters even prevent losing the boot on the occasion that the old-style dial mechanism on the boot somehow released itself under the cover (which happened to me at Malibu and I unknowingly rode the entire rocky section between vet check 2 &3 with one bare foot).
But Since Then, I have been using the new-style gaiters, and even though the dial mechanism sometimes releases itself (I think my horse interferes and knocks it), the gaiters have held the boot on. I can hear that the boot is loose or the horse indicates there is something amiss, and I just look down, and hop off and retighten the knob and finish the ride.
But NOW, the new Screw-On Protective Caps should prevent that self releasing of the knob as well!

But if you already have the old-style knob on the Boas, put a felt disc or something in that knob cover to fill that dime-sized indentation on the inside, and that should prevent the crank knob from being able to pop up and disengage while the cover is on. (I think I am a minority that experienced the knob self-releasing).

>
> The New and Improved Boa Boots are available. I have posted new information and pictures about the new boots and new gaiters on my website www.boaboots.com<http://www.boaboots.com/>.
>
> There are basically 3 changes to the Boa Boot
>
> 1. A new "dial-shield" - the protective cap which covers the Boa dial mechanism now screws on, like
> a threaded bottle cap.
> 2. There is now a pull-tab at the heel of the boot, similar to those found on athletic tennis shoes.
> 3. Three small drain holes have been added to the sole of the boot.
>
> The optional Boa Gaiters now come in three sizes (the two larger sizes are 7 mm neoprene), and a "hoof-plate" has been added to better secure the Gaiter in the boot.
>
> I am taking orders now for delivery in approximately 10 business days.
