[RC] Telepathy - Or Can My Horse Understand English? - GarnerT

I was on Day 2 of the Cuyama multiday this year. I had noticed that at the
end of a 50 my horse's sides would be a little tender. By the end of the
2nd day, Taz's sides were more than tender! I noticed he was bending away
from my left leg. We had to get on & off to open lots of gates & he was
shying away as I tried to get on (tall horse - short person). Finally,
after the last gate, he refused to let me mount. We only had about 5 miles
left to go & I tried & tried. Finally I told him, "Taz, I will not put my
toe anywhere near your side. I know it's sore." My riding partner laughed,
but you know what? Taz looked at me & I knew he was going to let me on. I
think I leaped on without even putting my foot in the stirrup! I now ride
with a new equipedic pad that comes down & covers the area that was getting
rubbed!

He does understand!

P.S. He was sore enough that we didn't even start Day 3.
