[RC] US RIDER TOWING ROCKS - Merryben

Well I made it part way to the  Bridgeport ride.  My rear end was making horrific noise going up Priest Grade towards Yosemite.  It is not a road for sissies.  I was thinking I was hitting those little markers on the line only it got worse and worse and then I realized there were no little markers on this road.  We got to Big Oak Flat in 4 wheel drive which was better but not good.

The auto repair there could not figure what was wrong totally but the clutches in the rear end were locking up.   They refilled it with the anti slip stuff and that made it better but on Friday the 13th I figured I had enough.

To make a long story short we bagged it and called U. S. Rider.  They asked me if I had horses with me and I did not and did not need any help that way.  Most of the big trucks up there are hauling equipment to fight a fire.  They called me back in 5 minutes and said they were looking.  In 10 minutes a tow truck driver called and said he was on his way.  They U. S. Rider called back and told me there was a truck on the way and it would take me home and it was authorized for $800.......no cost to me unless it was higher.

I have a '93 Dodge 4WD extended cab diesel and a 31'  3 horse gooseneck with living quarters.  23' box and 8' overhang.

They sent me a Peterbilt tractor with a low boy trailer and drove my entire rig up on the trailer and took me home.  He came from Sonora up the mountain and was there in less than 1 1/2 hours.  My house is approximately 150 miles give or take.  Dropped us off at home and had a 2 1/2 hour drive back to his place in Sonora.  Cost to me was nothing.

I will never leave home without my US Rider card..........and guess what, I work for AAA....................mb
