Re: [RC] [RC] FITS Pioneer Rides SE - Laurie Durgin

This is the Se, All lakeshores are usually filled with 300,000 up lake homes :0) Or they are in valleys , not usually sandy--usually rocky with undergrouwth.
Buuuutttt--- You might be able to find a sand arena to work in. Either a saddle club arena, county park with horse arena or fairgrounds or even a private one that might let you--

please don't let sand discourage you from entering. don't you have any
lakes there? surely there are some sandy lake shore somewhere where you
live. i live in nevada and, yes, you must train in sand to push your horse,
but doing a slow 25 should really be ok, (just my humble opinion). call
ride management and ask how many sandy trails they plan to include.
don't let sand stop you!!!! pioneer rides, multi-days, are the greatest fun
i've had yet!

Reading my EN tonight, I saw that there is a new 6 day ride in FL in March
2005, the Fun In The Sun Pioneer I & II. Looks like 2 separate Pioneer
events. There isn't a ride flyer associated with the ride on the ride
calendar yet, but I'm guessing this ride is a sandy ride that I wouldn't
want to attempt doing if I don't have sand to train on? Comments from the SE
riders? Too bad if that is the case. I would love to go down and do several
25 mile rides back to back. But not enough to risk my horse's legs! :-)

KUDOS to the management for putting on a SIX day ride! How cool is that? I
know these are "common" out west and there is the Shore To Shore ride up
north, but in the SE? Very nice indeed.
