Re: [RC] [RC] I had a wonderful time. - Maggie MieskeHoward, I am sure Julie would refuse it but it would be a nice gesture. :) I, too, felt horrible to hear about Julie pulling. But her courage and positive attitude...it is better to try and fail than not to have tried at all...touched me deeply. As a result, I AM attempting the Shore to Shore ride next week...I was going to sit it out and let my daughter, Jenny ride Malik. Her horse had been pulled at Grand Island earlier in the year and then had a cough after the run to get fudge in Petoskey fiasco at AHAM... after the Wolverine where I rode 25 and Max did 25 and Jenny and Malik did 40 (it was supposed to be 25 but she had a brain fart and did an extra loop, heehee and it was good conditioning anyway)....we decided to go with the original plan. If I don't make it, at least I will have tried and if Julie at her tender age, can complete 98.5 miles of Tevis, I ought to be able to do the Shore to Shore. :) So, wish me luck. I will be thinking of Julie every step of the way (nice thoughts, for sure even when I am ready to give up and wondering what I am doing out there!). This is my birthday gift to myself in a way...riding 250 miles with my kid. :) It can't get much better than that. :) However, I DO want my belt buckle if I make it. :) I also hope to be able to say "I had a wonderful time" and I bet I will.
