[RC] Choosing Between Horses - rides2far

As for your other horse, how do you know he'll never
be a contender?

I started Kaboot out sponsoring a slow horse with a junior. After 2 years
with him pacing himself with the slow horse I was convinced Kaboot was
natually slow. Then we started going alone and he picked up a little.
Then we did a 100 and low and behold when I went back to 50's he was a
speed demon.

I just bought a new horse/pony (he's a 14.1 Arab). I don't think he'll be
especially fast on 50's but I have hopes that he may have a chance at
placing if he ever makes it to be a 100 miler. Some things that don't
matter much to make top 10 on a 50 really help in a 100.

By the way, I couldn't decide between him and another horse and after I
asked the advice of several ridecampers I went with their
concensus..."Buy both". >g< NEVER ask horse people "which one", they'll
talk you into both. (The other one's Josie's now)
