At about 1:30 Sunday afternoon, Samantha Sandler crossed the finish line at the Moonlight Ride as the winner of the 100 mile ride. The only ones present at the camp when she finished were the ride manager,J.D. Fountain and myself. The awards were given out for the 50 and 25 at 9:00. I realize that people have to go to work and get some sleep before then, but J.D. and myself do too. I think it a shame that this young lady rode the last 37 miles by herself with no crew and there was nobody there to cheer her finish or congratulate her on finishing 100 miles except two people who were supposed to be there until the finish. Maybe some of you can call or email her if you can to tell her what a good job she did last weekend. Im sure you would like for someone to cheer you if you ever won a 100 mile race regardless of the circumstances. Congrats Samantha!
