We will never know if it would have dropped dead in the pasture or not since it did drop dead at an endurance ride and won't be in the pasture any more. Did the extra stress of the ride, or the combined stress of the trailer ride and ride put him over the top? We won't know that either - and we will never know unless we are serious about keeping records.

Not to start anything, but-

 

I have endurance horses and dinks at home, I won’t want my “dink” to drop over dead either!

They are all great horses!
