Re: [RC] Jiggy on the Trail. Need Suggestions... - Kristene Smuts

Dolores : >>All of the things you said you have tried will work. But, as with
anything, you have to be willing to spend the time doing them until it does
work.>>

I have a horse like this and he has to be reschooled from being ridden like
that by various people. Previous owner bragged that he did a 60km ride at 18
kph "and it was only his second ride ever"! Anyway, I've discovered one other
thing - my own riding position. I'm working hard at retraining my own body
<ouch> to not ride hollow - that makes my bum bones poke right through the
saddle and into his back which makes him hollow, brings his head right up and
causes him to want to speed up. Yes, there are many other things going on, but
that is one of them which I can fix "fairly" easily. He's not as jiggy when I
focus on my own position and CONCENTRATE on where those bones go ;-))

Strangely, my stallion has more manners about how he wants me to sit ;-))

Truman : >> But was she ever a great ride and could really fly.>>

Yes, Eric can as well, if given the chance of an inconsiderate rider. I know
this horse will run himself to death, if asked (or not, even), and I'm very
careful about that. In another season or so, when we can manage that speed
better, he will be given the chance to show what he's made of!

Cheers
