Re: [RC] Jiggy on the Trail. Need Suggestions... - Truman Prevatt
Yep I had a palomino walking horse that would routinely get into the
"got to go head the Yankees off at Shilo" frame of mind. She's not
with us anymore but she never stopped up till the day we had to stop
riding her because of a shoulder injury she got when she fell in a
hole in the trail at about 18 or 19. She seemed to think it was just
another of the many gaits that the walking horse possesses.
At one time I tried to cross her with an Arab -but she turned out to be
too old to take (17) so it didn't work out. I always said I wanted to
proved you could breed for a horse with absolutely no brain - an Arab
cross her ;-). But was she ever a great ride and could really fly.

Oh my, I
believe that I know a certain chestnut mare like this and if you get
any sure fire solutions, I want to hear them. Mine is a young 17 yr old
and she is intensely competitive, but due to a couple of nasty
accidents, she hasn't the legs to live up to her own standards.
Nevertheless, if she is in the desert and on the way home, the words
"flat walk" just go whizzing through her ears, through her brain, and
out the other side. I just learned to sit it and let her jig.
