[RC] to rasp or not to rasp - A. PerezJena wrote: "He always rasps the outside of the hoof and puts dressing on at the end of the trim. He said it allows the dressing to remoisturize the hoof. I asked him to skip that part on my guys." My farrier does this as well and like you, I'd rather she didn't. The outside of the hoof has a glassy surface or 'coating' that I feel should not be disturbed. I think if this surface is damaged, the hoof walls are more prone to drying. I also don't care for the way the rasp marks look. It's not a huge deal, but I don't think the additional rasping servs any purpose. ________________________________________________ Get your own "800" number Voicemail, fax, email, and a lot more http://www.ureach.com/reg/tag =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
