[RC] Bandit Springs Ride - Ed & Wendy HauserWendy and I went to our first PNER ride this weekend. The Tribbys put on a great ride. The camp is a superb meadow in a Ponderosa fine forest. The trails, what I saw of them, are wonderful, if a bit dusty in places. There are some volcanic rocks, one of which had Ranger's name written on it. He pulled at 30 miles with, what I think is a stone bruise. If it is still sore today when I check we will be talking to the vet. The vet staff was great. I found that the head vet Gene Nance, rode many years ago in the Midwest. As with everyone who rode with AERC Hall of Famer Louise Reidel, he had some great stories to share. The vet staff worked with the riders and did their best to get as many horses through, sound and healthy, as they could. The weather was a bit warm, and more humid than westerners are used to. Some people had trouble getting their horses down at the end of the rides. I think Angie should come west to the ride next year and do a clinic on sponging and cooling in humidity. We met some very nice people and are sure that we will make friends to supplement the UMECRA riders that we have become friends with over the last 10 years.
