The post is indeed wobbly. But the way I read the AERC's charter a big part of the reason for it's existence is to promote and ensure the welfare of the horse. Hopefully in 5 years our horses will have more to depend on than a wobbly post.

It won't be easy, many "old timers" will be against anything new just because it is new, many new riders won't have the experience to know how bad things can go when a horse crashes and how fast it can happen and many will just resist change because it will "impact them" - never mind it might help their horse because "it could never happen to my horse."  Hopefully our BOD has the political will and can exhibit the leadership to live up to their responsibility to the horse.
