[RC] spooking and spinning - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

Well, this is one I know personally. I had a horse, oh, he is
still alive and well and living at my mother's house. He was
purchased as a 6 yr. old that had been abused by a drunk owner,
I took him in as an endurance horse. Yes, he did make a good
horse, completed over 2000 miles, won rides and BC's. BUT...he
was a terrible spooking/spinning horse to ride. (hence why he
is at mamma's) He always spun to the right, but was quick as
lightning. So, I tried punishment, distraction (put jingle
bells on his head), re-asurement (petting)...everything. Never
could stop or even slow it down. He ended up tearing up my
knee...spun out from under me. He was 14 when I stopped riding
him. I had to, I couldn't do anything with him. So, my advice
would be--if you can't stop it after plenty of time, I mean
years of trying everything, then maybe the best thing is just to
call it quits. My horse was messed up in the head, literally
from previous mis-handling. I swear he saw demons. Good luck
and my hats off to those out there that can stop this behavior.

Jody and the girls--and demon Darget :)
