I agree with this, although I've only used one glowstick.  I find the
"mini-mag" works well for those times you have to scope out a marker or
check out a hazard, as it lets you change the spread of the beam, yet is
quite small and light (two AA batteries).  Small and light enough to
carry a spare as well.

I think the worst situation is to have a rider behind you with a helmet
light. Harsh shadows constantly dancing around in front of you, giving
you vertigo and ruining your and your horse's night vision.

Just wanted to underscore what Joe said here--the vertigo that can be
caused by a rider coming up behind you with a head lamp is very real and
potentially dangerous.  That bobbing light coming from behind also can
have a nauseating effect when you're tired and likely a bit dehydrated as
well.
