I'm eyeballing mid October for the Armadillo ride in Texas. Am I on
track to  preparing him for a 50 miler or are my aspirations too far
fetched at this  point given his conditioning?


Heavens, he sounds like he is ready now!

You already have the right attitude--going to finish, not to race.  Given
that attitude and your preparations, I'd say you're right on target.  Go
for it, and have a good time!
