Raisins and Grapes - A Dogs New Nightmare

The ASPCA-run Animal Poison Control Center is working hard to get the word out to people that raisins and grapes are both considered toxic to dogs now.

This is a relatively recent revelation. A 70-lb male Irish setter recently died of complete kidney failure within 24 hours of eating a box of raisin he had snuck out of a grocery bag.

The ASPCA is studying this recent finding and collecting any information possible. If you or someone you know has had a animal pass away because of contact with raisins or grapes I encourage you to call 1-888-4-ANIHELP (I know there is an extra number but if it was ANIHEL would you really want to call?) this is the number for the Animal Poison Control Center. Please offer them all the information you can! The center is in the early stages of studying this and doesn't know why it happens, if its specific to a certain amount of the food, if some breeds are more susceptible than other, etc.

This is easily preventable, please take care in what you give your animals!
