[RC] Pictures of the Tevis trail in question - Nick Warhol

Hi Everyone- My heart goes out to Tonjia for her tragic loss.  Unfortunately things like this happen in our sport; all we can do is try our hardest to stay safe, and stay lucky.  The best description of the Tevis is what Mitch Benson told me at the finish line when I got pulled there:  “The Tevis is 30% rider, 30% horse, and 40% luck.”  That really says it all.

I was out with a group of riders pre-riding the trail from Robinson Flat to Foresthill on Sunday, the day after the accident.  Master trail photographer Lucy Chapman Trumbull was there riding Fausto, and took a lot of pictures of the event.   If you want to see the exact trail in question, notice pictures number 8548 through 8556.  It’s not the trail that’s so bad here, it’s what off to the right.  There is no way to go but down, and no way back up.

Nick
