[RC] AHAM-all's well that ends well - Maggie Mieske

In any case, all is well that ends well. Our horses are alive and home in
their pastures as is Rita's (at least I haven't heard otherwise and she
already had a call in to her own vet before she left camp to check her horse
when she arrived home). We were able to put back, we hope, some of what we
received from others.

Mary and Badar won their first LD and their first Best Condition. (Her ride
story will follow eventually.) There may have been only 3 entered in the LD
that day but Mary and Badar performed as a team, took care of each other and
finished the ride in FINE form. My sister (who is much older than I am, by
the way) and this filly are going to be contenders when they start doing
50s. Badar has the ability to go fast and gets good vet scores but Mary is
riding smart and learning her own and her horse's capabilities and
limitations. I am so proud of both of them that I could bust. Gene Dake has
no idea how much that blanket she was awarded means to her. It is a
validation unlike any other. Those two are awesome. Mary is my hero and
Badar is more than just an offspring of Malik (gotta get a plug in there for
the old man, stupid idiot that he is). What journeys and joys we have before
us!!!!

And for those who wondered, Malik spent the rest of the weekend tied to the
trailer unless we were physically present and awake. He never offered again
to look unkindly on Max though I did reconfigure the fence with about 5 feet
between them. Nelson has already devised his plan for a set of panels about
5 feet high.I am also voting for a picket, a hi-tie, hobbles, panels AND an
electric corral around all of that!!!!

Malik and Max both trotted off in their pastures as close to sound as you
can get in spite of their owies. There is still no swelling two days later
though Malik doesn't like it much if we palpate those stitches. I didn't
poke him too hard though I hope he doesn't soon forget.

Miles of Smiles,
Maggie Mieske
