I would think that the fleece is more
for looks. With a good pad and a dixie the underside of the saddle never
touches anything of importance. A good example of this is my BOZ I used to ride
in. I pulled off the pads and just rode with the saddle (tree exposed) a Skito
and a Dixie.
Some glue and scrap fleece might be a
cheap fix. I have scraps of saddle fleece if its needed.
