[RC] Replacing a Fleece - k s swigartCatThom2 said: A friend just purchased a well used endurance saddle. The leather is in excellent condition, but it's missing some fleece underneath. Any good (read economical) ideas on how to repair it? The only way _I_ know of to "repair" this is to replace the fleece. And the only way _I_ know of to replace a fleece is to pay a professional to do it. :) Around here, it can be done for about $200 (some more, some less, but almost all in that range, although there are some "custom" saddlers who charge more than that, probably because they don't really want to do it but will if you make it worth their while). One thing that _I_ consider important when having this done is that the new fleece has to be sewn on using the original holes (so you can't take it to somebody who is just going to run the sucker through the sewing machine and make new holes willy nilly). Your local tack shop should be able to refer you to somebody (or have somebody on staff). Or you could probably send it back to the original manufacturer (although this will probably be more expensive). I wouldn't recommend trying to do it yourself. kat Orange County, Calif. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
