 Not long ago I read an artical somehwere (Washington Post?)
that said that brown recluse spiders are extremely rare, and
that most bites blamed on them come from other types of spiders.
The guy interviewed said he'd pay $100 to anyone sending him a
brown recluse spider.  He has made this offer for years and has
yet to have any claimers.

Apparently in some medical text book many years ago, the bite of
the brown recluse spider was described, and docs have been
blaming all spider bites on the b.r. ever since.  In fact MANY
different spiders have bad bites.

I'll see if I can find the article.
