[RC] sponge question - Laurie Durgin

Ok, The Rascal and I went out to gps and see if another of our trails is gone yesterday>sigh< one year later. --- (3rd fastert growing county in Ga. 7th nationally--boohoo).
They logged it, my favorite 8 -10 foot wide under the trees, shady carpeted with pine needles uneroded, 4 wheelers missed this one.Probably because you have to cross the creek and the opening from the powerlines is semi hidden.( But then they just want to jump hills an dmake holes on the power easement.).
So I walked a good 3 miles. There was alot of broken brnaches and some vines I had to move.Still 6 log trailers parked there in 3 spots. The trail/logging road is all dirt/now with some deep mud in a few low areas. But it is still useable. Now it is just in the sun. So instead of 6 miles of shade, I have halfshade and half sun. Will need my sponge.
Dang. 2 trails a 6 mile and a 8 mile.Nice, wide, shady, wooded, without too much erosion. One is now becoming a huge development and the other being logged. I hope it is just being logged and not being built into another subdivision.Course there are no water lines within 5 miles, so maybe that will delay it a while, when I see the water lines come that way.
He thought he should just eat the whole time. He whinneyed, he jigged, he tried to take off faster than I allowed on the return trip. He whinneyed when we were looping back towards home, but two hills away.At least he has his direction right.--He seems to have forgotten all those long rides and how he'd learned not to 'jig' and listen to me. He didn't bolt though, and crossed the creek and stood 3 out of 4 mountings. He did see another deer. He did freeze up at he dirt mound the first 50 feet .(that wasn't there before, beside it is in the shade). So I just dismounted and mutttered something about "you just want me to walk the first 50 feet , don't you".He has 'called' every time we are out though, odd, never used too. But he is #1 horse now.
The 4wheeler, dirt bikes (have done a number in spots on bothe loops)I used to be able to trot canter some sections, now I'll have to slow and walk through the 4 foot eroded sideways dips.
So here is the sponge question. I have one in a netbag. It has two clips I put on myself. What the heck do I do with the loop of braided string it is on. It sure looks like an accident waiting to happen. I can't let it hand down, Fancy catching that on a tree . Or even looping it . Maybe a holster? Meanwhile I also can't use the two bottle holders in front. The rope reins keep catching on them. Even though they have two clips top and bottom. So I am going to try the bladder in a cantle bag. Or I have a cantle with 2 bottle holders I made. See if I can tie them down good and make them accesible. Or the bladder. But the two holders in front sure are a pain with the reins. Being in the sun now I knwo I will have to sponge/drink more.
Down the trail with my Jigging dragon --- boy does he need a 50 to teach him a lesson.
