[RC] Trailer maintenance addendum - Ed & Wendy Hauser

I forgot two important things.
1. Tires. If you don't use your trailer much, the tires will most likely
rot before the tread wears out. Inspect every spring for cracks, tread
separation, ply separation. If in doubt, have them professionally
inspected, or replace every 4 or 5 years. Tires kept out of direct sunlight
when not in use will last longer.

2. Records. I can never remember when I did what to which trailer. I put
labels on the back side of tack doors. When I do anything I write it down.
Looking at the labels was what reminded me that I was a year over due on
wheel bearings.

We are talking about all the tools we can use to keep our horses safe and
alive at the rides. Training/conditioning is one of the best tools
available. It makes us better horseman and women, it benefits our horses
and could quite possibly be the key to preventing most crashes.
